Why this exists

Memory is movement.

The African Bi+ Project brief describes this space as a library for African Bi+ lived realities and a direct response to structural erasure and violence. It invites communities on the continent and in the diaspora to consolidate solidarity through sharing everyday stories.

We archive lives. We build knowledge. We shape liberatory futures.

“Our humanity is our starting point. Our relationships are our strength.”

The archive preview

Stories in every form.

Written, spoken, filmed, photographed, drawn, remembered. This preview shows the archive structure; approved community stories will become the living collection.

Theory + practice

From lived experience to power.

Grounded in the project's African philosophical framing of Utu and Ubuntu: dignity, humanity, ethical agency, relationships and mutual responsibility.

01 · Belonging

Arrive whole. Be recognised. Build chosen forms of kinship.

02 · Visibility

Make African Bi+ lives visible on our own terms while protecting the right to opacity and safety.

03 · Self-determination

Centre Bi+ people as authors of their own lives, knowledge and movements.

04 · Collective Power

Turn stories into shared knowledge, knowledge into organising power, and power into structural change.

05 · Lived Accountability

Hold in view how individual choices ripple through connected communities.

Visibility ≠ exposure

Be seen.
Stay safe.

The archive should make lives visible on their own terms. Safety is not an afterthought; it is part of the publishing model.

Put yourself in the archive

Your story can change what is remembered.

Share a written piece, audio, video, image, artwork or another form of memory. The production workflow is designed to separate submission from publication, with consent and visibility choices captured before anything becomes public.

Secure contribution portal

The contribution workflow is being connected to the private archive backend. We are deliberately not collecting your story through this public page until the secure review, consent, withdrawal and private-media systems are switched on.

What will be available here

Written, audio, video and image submissions · chosen-name or anonymous publication · community review · private media storage · consent and withdrawal controls.
